Candlelit

Support

How can we help?

Email contact@pileupdigital.com. A real person reads every message. It helps to say which iPhone and iOS version you have, and what you were doing when it went wrong.

Pairing

How do we pair?

One of you opens Candlelit and sends an invite. Your partner taps the link, or opens Candlelit and types the six-character code. That's it: one partner at a time.

The code doesn't work.

Each code works once and for 24 hours. Making a new one stops the old ones. Ask your partner to send a fresh invite. You can't use your own code; it has to go to your partner.

The link opened a web page instead of the app.

That happens when Candlelit isn't installed yet, or when the link is opened from inside some apps. Install Candlelit, open it, and type the code shown on the page.

How do we unpair?

Open Settings in Candlelit and tap Unpair under Partner. Either of you can do it. If you're in the middle of a date, it ends for both of you. You can both still see the dates you had together, and a subscription stays with whoever bought it.

During a date

How does a date start and end?

You both hold to start. The date ends on its own when the time is up. To end it early, you both hold again, together.

What if there's an emergency?

Calls and emergency calls always work during a date. If you need your phone back on your own, use the emergency exit on the locked screen: hold it for 10 seconds (or, with tap-to-hold on in Settings, tap once and wait 10 seconds). The date ends for both of you and your partner sees that you used it.

Which apps are blocked?

Everything except the apps you choose to keep. Most people keep Phone, Maps and Camera. Calls always work, whatever you pick.

What if one of us loses signal?

Each phone locks itself and unlocks at the end time on its own, even with no signal. It catches up with your partner's phone when it's back online.

Screen Time

Why does Candlelit need Screen Time?

Screen Time is how an iPhone app is allowed to block other apps. Candlelit uses it only during a date. It never sees which apps you use, and nothing about your apps leaves your phone. Your partner only sees that you're locked and for how long.

I said no to Screen Time. How do I turn it on?

Open Settings in Candlelit and turn it on there, or go to the iPhone Settings app, Screen Time. If Screen Time is switched off during a date, the date ends for both of you.

Subscription

What's free and what's in the subscription?

Your first date is free at any length. After that, free couples get one date a month, up to an hour. One subscription covers both of you: unlimited dates up to 12 hours. New subscribers get a free trial first.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Candlelit. Cancel at least a day before it renews. Deleting the app does not cancel it.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds, not us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

My partner subscribed. Do I need to as well?

No. One subscription covers the couple. If you unpair, it stays with whoever bought it.

I got a new phone and lost the subscription.

Sign in with the same Apple ID and open Candlelit; it checks your purchases with Apple. If it still doesn't show, email us.
